Ana Jarén illustrates Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence for Editorial Alma, bringing New York high society and period interiors into a new visual edition.

Wharton’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel centres on Newland Archer, May Welland and Countess Ellen Olenska within the codes and tensions of 1870s New York society. Ana’s illustrations can therefore work with fashion, rooms, social rituals and emotional distance, adding visual atmosphere to a story in which appearances and private desire are constantly in conflict.
